The short answer
Cova is cheaper than Flowhub for a dispensary with one or two registers, and it is the only one of the two that tells you its price. Cova publishes $349 a month with Cova Pay or $389 without for up to two workstations, and $499 or $599 for up to four. Flowhub publishes no standard price at all. Its last public rate card, from January 2022, was $399 to $449 a month for its entry plan with unlimited terminals, and the only price on its site today is a $420 a month social equity rate for one location.
So the comparison turns on register count. At one or two registers Cova wins by roughly $50 to $100 a month on the numbers each company has put in writing. At three or more, Cova jumps a tier while Flowhub never metered terminals, and the gap narrows or flips. Get Flowhub's quote in writing before you decide, because it is the only number in this comparison you cannot check in advance.
Is Cova cheaper than Flowhub?
For most single-location dispensaries, yes. Cova Boutique at $349 a month covers two workstations with unlimited users and unlimited transactions, and the closest Flowhub figure anyone can verify is the $399 annual or $449 monthly Essentials price from its 2022 card. Flowhub's own social equity program, which it describes as discounted, still costs $420 a month for one location.
We read Cova's US pricing page and Flowhub's site in October 2026. Where a figure comes from somewhere other than the company that charges it, the table says so.
| What you are comparing | Cova | Flowhub |
|---|---|---|
| Published standard price | Boutique $349 with Cova Pay, $389 without. Powerhouse $499 or $599. Enterprise quoted | None. Pricing page redirects to the homepage and sales quotes every deal |
| Last price Flowhub put in writing | Not applicable | Essentials $399 billed annually or $449 monthly, Performance $599 or $659, per location (archived card, January 2022) |
| What the price is metered on | Workstations. Up to 2 on Boutique, up to 4 on Powerhouse's plan card | Location. The 2022 card included unlimited terminals and users |
| Price Flowhub publishes today | Not applicable | $420 a month for one location under its social equity program, with two Nug subscriptions, the View app and a Kiosk subscription included and a $100 implementation fee |
| Online ordering | Built-in eCommerce at $199 a month, shown at a $149 promo price | POS-native ecommerce store launched July 2025, sold as an add-on; price not published |
| Payments | Cova Pay. Using it lowers the software price by $40 or $100 a month | Flowhub Payments, integrated; rate not published |
| Uptime claim | Eight years of perfect uptime, per Cova's own comparison post | 99.99% uptime across more than 1,000 dispensaries, per Flowhub's homepage |
| Who wrote the head-to-head that ranks first | Cova's VP of marketing, published November 2025 and updated July 2026. There is no Flowhub-written equivalent | |
Every uptime figure in that table is self-reported, and so is every comparison claim that the top search result makes, because the page ranking first for "Cova vs Flowhub" is published by Cova. That does not make it wrong. It means the only neutral evidence is the two price figures each company has put its own name to, which is what the rest of this page works from. Our Cova pricing breakdown and Flowhub pricing breakdown go through each card line by line.
How much does Cova cost compared with Flowhub by number of registers?
The answer depends on the register count, because Cova meters workstations and Flowhub historically did not. Here is what each company's own figures produce at common store sizes, with Cova shown at its Cova Pay price and Flowhub at its last published Essentials price billed annually.
| Registers in the store | Cova, monthly | Flowhub, last published | Cheaper on paper |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 | $349 (Boutique) | $399 | Cova by $50 a month, $600 a year |
| 3 to 4 | $499 (Powerhouse) | $399 | Flowhub by $100 a month, if its quote still matches 2022 |
| 5 or more | Enterprise, quoted, or Powerhouse if the unlimited line on Cova's comparison table holds | $399, terminals unlimited | Unknown until both quote in writing |
| Without the vendor's payment rail | $389 or $599 | Not published | Ask Flowhub whether its quote assumes Flowhub Payments |
Two cautions keep this honest. Flowhub's $399 is four years old and Flowhub itself now charges $420 for its discounted program, so a standard quote today is very likely higher than the 2022 card. And Cova's own page disagrees with itself about Powerhouse: the plan card says up to four workstations and the comparison table on the same page says unlimited. Get the workstation count in the order form.
Over a three-year term the difference compounds. A two-register shop on Cova Boutique with Cova Pay pays $12,564 in software. The same shop at Flowhub's old $399 would pay $14,364, about $1,800 more, before either company's online ordering add-on. If you add Cova's eCommerce module at its full $199, the Cova total rises to $19,728, which is why the ecommerce line matters more than the headline price.
Does Cova charge extra for ecommerce?
Yes. Cova's US pricing page lists built-in eCommerce as a separate line at $199 a month, currently shown at a $149 promotional price, on both Boutique and Powerhouse. That matters because Cova's own comparison article says it "doesn't charge extra for core features" and criticizes Flowhub for selling its ecommerce and marketing suites as add-ons. On Cova's own rate card, online ordering is an add-on too.
Flowhub launched a POS-native ecommerce store in July 2025 and a Marketing Suite in September 2025, and neither carries a published price. So the fair comparison is not "Cova includes it and Flowhub does not". It is that both charge for online ordering and only Cova tells you how much. If ecommerce is the reason you are switching, read our comparison of the best dispensary online ordering systems before you treat either vendor's module as the default.
Should you take Cova Pay or Flowhub Payments?
Only if the processing rate is competitive, because the software discount alone is small. Cova lowers its subscription by $40 a month on Boutique and $100 on Powerhouse if you route payments through Cova Pay, which is $480 to $1,200 a year. Neither Cova nor Flowhub publishes the processing rate on its payments product, and on a store taking a meaningful share of sales through cashless rails, a fraction of a percentage point in fees outweighs that discount quickly.
Ask both vendors for the per-transaction fee, who pays it, how long settlement takes, and what happens to the software price if you leave the payment product later. A payment rail tied to the register also makes the register harder to replace, so treat it as part of the contract term rather than a feature. Whichever you pick, the daily deposits from that rail still have to be matched against what the register says it sold, and a bank reconciliation tool that reads the statement and matches each deposit is cheaper than finding a short settlement at month end.
Which is better for a dispensary, Cova or Flowhub?
Cova is the better pick for a one or two register store that wants a price it can budget against before the demo, and for an operator who values a vendor that has published a rate card for years. Flowhub is the better pick for a store with three or more registers, if its written quote is still near its old unlimited-terminal pricing, and for a social equity licensee who qualifies for its $420 program with a kiosk subscription included.
- One location, two registers, price certainty first: Cova Boutique.
- Three to six registers on one license: get Flowhub's quote, because terminals were never metered, then compare with Cova Powerhouse.
- State social equity licensee: Flowhub's $420 program, which bundles the kiosk subscription and the Nug handheld subscriptions.
- Self-service kiosk on the floor: both sell one; check which works with which before you commit, as we mapped in our guide to dispensary self-checkout software.
- Washington: neither, today. Neither Cova nor Flowhub appears on the state's CCRS integrator list.
If neither fits, the wider field is priced in our list of Flowhub alternatives and Cova alternatives, and the side-by-side across every major platform is in our cannabis POS comparison.
How hard is it to switch from Flowhub to Cova?
Expect four to eight weeks from signed contract to the first sale on the new register, most of it spent on data migration and the state traceability connection rather than on the software itself. Customer profiles, loyalty balances and open inventory are what break, so export them from the old system before you give notice, and run both systems for a reconciled day before cutting over. Time the switch around your contract end date and your state's reporting cycle, not around the vendor's onboarding calendar.
The step-by-step order, including what to export and when to tell staff, is in our guide to switching dispensary POS systems. And if you are moving between these two because of Dutchie as well, our Dutchie vs Flowhub comparison covers the third side of the triangle.
What should be in the contract whichever you choose?
The price, the meter and the exit. Write the monthly price with and without the vendor's payment product, the number of registers or locations it covers, the price of each add-on you plan to use within a year, and the notice period and data export format if you leave. Cova has given you most of that in public. Flowhub will give it to you in a quote, and the quote is the document that matters.
The register is only half of what brings a buyer to the counter. The other half is being found by adults choosing a shop nearby, with a menu that matches what is on the shelf. Cova names Weedmaps and Leafly among its menu integrations, and whichever register you run, a claimed Dispensaries listing shows that menu, your deals and your hours next to other licensed shops for a published $99 a month, so the system you just chose is selling before the customer walks in.
Before you sign
- Count your registers, including the one you will add within a year. It decides which vendor is cheaper.
- Get Flowhub's standard quote in writing; the 2022 card is a floor, not a price.
- Confirm Cova Powerhouse's workstation count in the order form, since its own page says both four and unlimited.
- Price online ordering separately on both, at full price, not the promo.
- Ask each for its payment processing rate and what the software costs if you drop the payment product.
- Check both appear on your state's traceability integrator list before the demo.
