PRICE THE AIQ QUOTE FIRST
Alpine IQ pricing, what AIQ costs per store and per text message, and where the $70,000 a year figure comes from
The short answer
Alpine IQ, now branded AIQ, does not publish a price today and sells on custom contracts. Its own last public rate card, the charge policy in force before March 2023, set a $399 a month license per store plus pay-as-you-go messaging at $0.0085 per SMS segment, $0.018 per MMS and $0.0013 per email, with carrier fees on top and usage billed a month in arrears. On that card one store texting 5,000 customers four times a month pays roughly $650 to $1,200 a month. The widely quoted $70,000 a year average comes from Vendr and rests on three deals, which fits a chain of about ten stores, not a single shop.

Behind Vendr's widely quoted $69,466 average annual contract
Alpine IQ is the CRM and loyalty platform a large share of US dispensaries use to run points programs, segment customers and send text and email campaigns. The company now goes by AIQ, and in March 2024 it bought Dispense, the dispensary ecommerce menu. What it does not do is publish a price, so most owners walk into the sales call with nothing but a number from a directory.
This page gives you the numbers that exist and who published each one. The most useful is AIQ's own: its help center still hosts the charge policy that applied before March 2023, with a per store license and a price for every text, email and postcard. We use it to model a real monthly bill for one, three and ten stores, then show why the figure everyone repeats is a chain's number. We are a directory for state-licensed dispensaries. We do not sell CRM software and take no referral fee from any vendor named here.
Why it works
How to read an AIQ quote
Split license from messaging
Ask for the per store license and the per message rates as two separate lines. The license is fixed, the messaging grows with your list, and a single bundled number hides which half you are negotiating.
Count segments, not texts
AIQ bills per 153 character segment. A promo with a link and the opt-out line often runs to two, which doubles the messaging line. Ask the rep to price your actual template.
Ask what is billable
Under AIQ's published policy, opt-in confirmations, opt-out replies, default responses and per order messages were all billed like campaigns. Find out which of those your contract still charges.
Know the invoice lag
Messaging was billed monthly in arrears, so a big 4/20 campaign shows up on the following invoice. Budget for the month after, not the month of, and ask whether a deposit applies.
Bring a published anchor
Blackleaf publishes $25 to $125 a month plus $0.03 to $0.05 a text. springbig is reported from about $600 a month. Quoting either turns AIQ's number into a comparison.
We list, we do not sell CRM
Dispensaries is a directory of state-licensed stores. We have no stake in the CRM you choose. The one thing we sell has a published price: a claimed, license-verified listing is $99 a month.
How it works
Four steps, in the order that actually pays
Pull last month's send volume
Opted-in texters, emails on file, campaigns sent and average characters per text. Every AIQ quote is built on these, so have them before the call.
Model it on AIQ's own card
Store count times $399, plus segments times $0.0085, plus carrier fees. That gives you a checkable monthly number, sourced to AIQ, before the rep gives you theirs.
Price one published rival
Run the same volume through Blackleaf's public rate card or a springbig quote. If AIQ's total is higher, ask which features close the gap.
Compare twelve months
License, messaging, premium support if you need it, and any deposit. Then check the renewal terms, because messaging volume only goes up as the list grows.
The meter test
What AIQ costs a month, by store count
The colored bars apply AIQ's own last published rate card: $399 per store, $0.0085 per SMS segment and about $0.0033 in carrier fees per segment. The low end is single segment texts, the high end two segment texts plus premium support. The gray bars are what third parties publish. Ten stores on AIQ's card lands right on Vendr's contract range.
The numbers
Every Alpine IQ price we found, and who published it
| Source | Who they are | What they say AIQ costs | How much weight to give it |
|---|---|---|---|
| AIQ Charge Policy (Prior to March 2023) | AIQ itself, still hosted on its help center | $399 a month per store license, or $0.0125 to $0.10 per transaction by volume tier. A "Half Baked" license at $70 a month. SMS $0.0085 per segment sent, MMS $0.018, email $0.0013, browser push $0.018, postcards $1, phone numbers $1. Premium support $299 or $699 a month. Carrier fees extra, billed in arrears, deposits possible. | The only first-party numbers that exist. Current contracts are custom, so use it as the structure of the bill and a floor for negotiation, not as today's price. |
| Vendr buyer guide | Software procurement platform | Average annual contract $69,466, maximum $108,000. | Real contract data, but from "more than 2 unique purchasers and 3 completed deals". That is a chain's number, not a single store's. |
| Heady, June 2026 | Cannabis marketing agency that sells CRM services | About $1,000 a month per location: $12,000 a year for one, $36,000 for three, $120,000 for ten. | A reasonable round number that matches our model for one store. No source is given for it. |
| SourceForge | Software directory | "Starting Price: $45/m". | Low. No source, and no store could run texting at that price on AIQ's own card. |
| Sticky | Competing loyalty vendor | "Typically at least 40% lighter than AIQ." No AIQ figure. | A competitor's sales claim. Useful only as a prompt to get Sticky's quote in writing. |
| Blackleaf | Competing SMS vendor | AIQ pricing "is not consistently published in a single public pricing table." | Correct, and the reason this page exists. |
We opened every source in September 2026. AIQ publishes no current retail price. Treat every figure here as a starting point for a written quote.

How much does Alpine IQ cost?
Alpine IQ does not publish a current price. It quotes custom contracts built on store count, list size, modules, onboarding and messaging volume. The best public guide is AIQ's own earlier charge policy: $399 a month per store plus about a penny per text once carrier fees are added. On that card a single store usually lands between $650 and $1,200 a month, and a ten store chain between $7,500 and $12,000.
Those ranges line up with the two independent figures that exist. A cannabis agency puts AIQ at about $1,000 a month per location, and Vendr's contract data, $69,466 a year on average, works out to $5,789 a month, which is what the old card produces for roughly eight to ten stores. So the numbers agree. What they do not do is describe a single shop, which is who most searchers are.
- No current public price. Custom contracts only.
- Last published structure: $399 per store a month plus metered messaging.
- One store on that card: roughly $650 to $1,200 a month.
- Vendr's $70,000 a year average fits a chain of about ten stores.
Does Alpine IQ charge per text message?
Yes. AIQ's published policy priced messaging pay-as-you-go: $0.0085 per SMS segment sent, $0.0035 per segment received, $0.018 per MMS and $0.0013 per email, with carrier fees added per segment. A segment is 153 characters, so a longer text is billed as two or three. Push notifications through its app were free.
Two rules in that policy catch owners out. First, the billable messages included opt-in confirmations, opt-out replies, default responses and per order messages, not only campaigns, so a store that texts order-ready alerts pays for every one. Second, usage was billed monthly in arrears, so the invoice after a big holiday campaign is the one that surprises you. Ask whether both rules still apply in your contract.
- SMS $0.0085 per segment sent, $0.0035 received.
- MMS $0.018 per segment, email $0.0013 per send, app push free.
- Carrier fees extra, roughly $0.003 to $0.004 per SMS segment on registered 10DLC.
- Opt-in, opt-out, default replies and order texts were all billable.
What does Alpine IQ cost for one dispensary?
Take a single store with 5,000 customers who have opted in to texts, four campaigns a month and a 20,000 address email list. That is 20,000 SMS segments if every text fits in 153 characters. At $0.0085 plus about $0.0033 in carrier fees, messaging costs about $236. Add the $399 license and roughly $26 of email and the month comes to about $660, or close to $8,000 a year.
Now make the texts realistic. A promo with a product name, a price, a link and "Reply STOP to opt out" usually runs to two segments, which takes messaging to about $472. Add AIQ's $299 premium support tier and the same store pays about $1,200 a month. The license barely matters in that range. Your template length and your list size do, which is why the first thing to send the rep is a real campaign text.
Where does the $70,000 a year Alpine IQ figure come from?
From Vendr, a procurement platform that negotiates software contracts for buyers. Its Alpine IQ guide reports an average annual cost of $69,466 and a maximum of $108,000, and discloses that the data comes from more than two unique purchasers and three completed deals. That is real contract data, but three deals is not a market, and companies that hire a procurement service are rarely single stores.
Run AIQ's own card at ten stores, 50,000 texters and six texts a month and you get $7,500 to $11,800 a month, or $90,000 to $141,000 a year. That is the neighborhood Vendr describes. If you run one or two stores, do not let the $70,000 figure scare you off, and do not let a quote of $2,000 a month feel cheap next to it either.
Alpine IQ vs springbig pricing
Neither vendor publishes a current price, and both bill a platform fee plus messaging. springbig is reported from about $600 a month with texts sold in bundles, and its own SEC filings describe extra revenue when a client's messages exceed the amount in its subscription package. AIQ's structure was a per store license with every message metered. In practice the two land in a similar band for a single store, and the difference is how the bill grows.
The ownership picture differs too. In July 2026 springbig's listed parent transferred the operating company to a lender, so a multi-year springbig contract is now with a new owner. AIQ is private and has been acquiring, including Dispense in March 2024. Our springbig pricing page covers its price points and filings, and the best dispensary SMS software puts springbig, AIQ and Sprout side by side.
Is Alpine IQ worth it if you are on Dutchie POS?
It depends on how much of the program you actually use. Dutchie now sells Loyalty and Marketing Pro inside its POS, with rewards, segments, email, push and automated birthday campaigns, and texting as an add-on through your account manager. If you run a simple points program and a weekly text, paying for a separate CRM on top of that is often paying twice.
AIQ earns its fee when you use what the POS module does not: audiences built across several stores and data sources, a customer wallet, brand co-marketing and deeper reporting. Ask Dutchie to price Loyalty and Marketing Pro with texting for your list, put it next to your AIQ renewal, and decide on the difference. Our Dutchie pricing page lists what each Dutchie product is reported to cost.
Alpine IQ alternatives with a published price
If you want a number before a sales call, Blackleaf publishes one: $25, $75 or $125 a month on monthly billing, 20% less on annual, with texts at $0.05, $0.04 or $0.03 a segment carrier fees included, plus a 10% compliance fee on usage. It is cheaper than AIQ's old card at low volume and dearer per text at high volume, and the crossover sits around 13,000 segments a month for one store.
We work through that crossover, and compare springbig, Sticky, Dutchie's module and the POS-native options, in Alpine IQ alternatives for dispensaries. For the loyalty side on its own, dispensary loyalty program software sets out what a points program should cost per member.
